14feb6:00 pmEngineering Help for the Casting Industry

Event Details

Our first meeting for 2018 will be another joint meeting between the Australian Die Casting Association and the Australian Foundry Institute.

This presentation will be given by John McPhee, Associate Director, Engagement Development at Swinburne University.

John will show how metal casting companies can tap into the great talents, and resources, that exist within our universities, through student placement programs.

All manufacturing plants have certain problems and issues that need to be addressed, but, because of a lack of suitable staff within the business, and other priorities, they are not tackled. There are plenty of young engineers who, given the right conditions and direction, are capable of working on these projects and coming up with good ideas and solutions.

The presentation will cover:

  • The types of project most suitable
  • The criteria required
  • How they can be arranged

With examples of past projects and outcomes achieved.

Student placement programs are not just for large companies. There are plenty of small companies who can configure a suitable project, and reap the rewards.

These programs build stronger ties between industry and education and are vital for an advanced manufacturing culture.

Come along and find out how to participate.
